Cousins by Elizabeth Walton

We are cousins -

We sprang from the same root -

Share the same grandparents

And

Great-grandparents.

You are flesh of my flesh

And bone of my bone.

The next thing to being brother or sister.

How wonderful it is that God

So planned it that way!

But -

Adding to the fact that we are

cousins,

We are also,

Friends!

This poem is by Rev. Elizabeth Walton, daughter of Howard N. Walton. It was published in “The Abundant Heart, an anthology of verses” by Elizabeth J. Walton, 1996
